Overview
John M. Browning is the greatest gun designer of all time. No other was more prolific and developed such a wide variety of firearms. From the original Single-Shot rifle to the Model 94 lever-action rifle to the Model 1911 handgun to the M2 .50 caliber machine gun to the Auto-5 shotgun, Browning developed tough, reliable arms for hunting and to help secure freedom around the globe. Although he passed away before it was manufactured, one of his final designs ranks among his most successful and beloved by shotgun enthusiasts, this gun is the Superposed.
Although the idea of having one barrel above the other was not a new idea, the Superposed was the first commercially successful over and under shotgun. Browning himself was a shotgun enthusiast, and it was his belief that a double-barrel shotgun with a single sighting plane, single selective trigger, and a reliable operating mechanism would be superior to the side-by-side models of the era. He designed the Superposed using the same gift of ingenuity with which he used to develop his other designs; resulting in a tough and supremely reliable firearm that, once again, steered the course of history.
In 1973, Browning launched the successor to the famed Superposed — the Citori. Produced by Miroku Corporation in Nangoku, Japan, the Citori utilized the same design as the Superposed, and included a number of changes to the original design that streamlined manufacturing and made the Citori more affordable, putting these fine shotguns in the hands of even more users. 50 years later, the best-selling Citori continues to inspire shooters with balanced handling, unwavering reliability and traditional elegance.
This commemorative High Grade 50th Anniversary model includes extensive receiver engraving with gold accents and a beautifully finished Turkish walnut stock and forearm. As with every Citori, it is manufactured following an exacting hand-fitting process that is performed by the skilled hands of the men and women at the Miroku facility.
